Today is the celebration of 30 years that have passes since they started to take away the wall in Berlin, the old DDR.
It makes me to think of so many walls around the world, like the one they now build in Palestrina, the big one in China, the "shame wall" in Spain and so on...
but imagine a town in two pieces and no allowance to meet your relatives on the other side?
Many took all different kinds of ways to try to flee from East Berlin to the west but any died when trying.
Is wall's really a good solution? Walls, guards, weapons and mines?

Yes, 20 years. About a town devided ... well I can think to a couple of example.
Italy: Gorizia & Nova Gorica. Actually they are the same Italian city, but it had devided just by the "iron courtain" [between Italy and former Yugoslavia]. Today there is no more borderline.
Norther Ireland: different situation and reason, but same result. To keep the tense low among Catholics and Protestants several areas of Belfast are surrounded by walls, like in the middle age.
